Yes. Thinner does not mean less absorbent. Our towels are 100% natural Turkish cotton. The first few washes open the fibres and absorbency improves noticeably by the third wash.

Terry towels are thick, slow to dry, and get rougher over time. A peshtemal is lightweight, compact, dries in a fraction of the time, and softens with each wash. It is also more hygienic since it does not hold moisture.

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Preferably do not use detergant. Tumble dry low or hang dry. It will feel noticeably better after the first few washes.

A small amount of shrinkage (3 to 5%) is normal on the first wash with 100% natural cotton. After that it holds its shape. Cold water and low heat in the dryer will keep it minimal.

Avoid it. Fabric softener coats cotton fibres and reduces absorbency over time. Your peshtemal will naturally soften with every wash without it. That softening is one of the things that makes it special.

Years, not seasons. Unlike terry cloth which degrades and loses softness, peshtemal fibres open up and improve with washing. With basic care your Kervan towel will outlast most terry towels by a wide margin.
