About Us
Kervan Turkish Textiles
Woven from
tradition.
Five centuries of hammam craft, brought to Canada.
Our belief
Kervan was born from a simple conviction: the world's finest textiles deserve to travel further.
The name behind the brand
Kervan is a Turkish word for a train of camels, horses, and mules carrying goods and travellers across deserts and mountain passes. For centuries, it was the kervan that connected the world. Moving the finest silk, spice, dye, and handwoven textiles from the East to Europe and beyond.
The original trade network
Long before global shipping existed, the kervan was how the world moved. Organized caravans of animals and merchants crossed some of the harshest terrain on earth, carrying goods that could not be found anywhere else. Safety, solidarity, and quality. These were the rules of the road.
Only the best made the journey
A kervan could not carry everything. Only goods worth the distance — durable, rare, and impossible to replicate — earned their place. The peshtemal, woven in Denizli and carried on those ancient routes, was one of them. Lightweight enough for the road, valuable enough to command a price at the other end.
We carry that tradition forward
Kervan does what those caravans always did: source the finest thing from the place it is made best, and bring it to people who would never otherwise find it. The animals are gone. The principle is not. The route just ends at your door in Canada now.
Cotton fields, Denizli region, Turkey
The source
The weaving capital of the ancient world.
Every Kervan towel begins its journey in Denizli, Turkey, the undisputed capital of peshtemal weaving. Nestled in the Aegean region, Denizli has been producing the world's finest cotton textiles for over 2,000 years.
The city's unique mineral-rich water, ideal climate, and generations of master weavers make it the only place on earth where a true peshtemal can be born.
Ottoman hammam tradition, centuries old
A tradition older than you think
The towel of sultans and silk road travellers.
The peshtemal is not just a towel. It is a piece of living history, woven into the fabric of Ottoman hammam culture for centuries.
Before the modern terry towel ever existed, the peshtemal was the choice of sultans, traders, and travellers across the Silk Road. Lightweight, fast-drying, and growing softer with every wash, it was engineered by tradition long before the word "engineered" existed.
What makes Kervan different
